The Seven Last Words: Father, forgive them

Steve · April 4, 2020 · 6 Comments

I was supposed to be giving a lenten retreat this weekend but the world got in the way. So I’m doing this instead…find a quiet place.

The Seven Last Words: Today, as Christians around the world prepare to enter into Holy Week, I am beginning a seven-day series of short video reflections on the last words of Jesus from the cross. We believe these words from the cross continue to speak to us and resound in us today, teaching us how to forgive, to assure, to take care of others, to cry out in times of need, to be fully human, and to embrace our own lives and deaths more completely in God. Today, we begin with forgiveness.

“Father, forgive them…” Luke 23:33-34

[If you’d prefer to read along or instead of viewing, you can read my reflection here.]

    Steve
Thanks for doing this. It will help me reflect the magnitude of Holy Week.
The “live” four days at Church will be missed

Thank you, neighbor! I agree it’s going to be a strange week with sitting in the pews. But Holy Week keeps coming, church buildings or not. “Church” we remain.
